Backup windows 7 OS on dvd

Could someone tell me how i can backup my windows 7 OS on a dvd disk

Windows backup will backup your "C" drive to dvd.
Depending on capacity, you may require a handful of dvd's.
And, it will be slow.

Really, an external usb attached backup hard drive would be better.

but i don't want to backup my harddrive, i just want a backup of my OS.

Your windows dvd can be used to do a clean install
Just keep your activation code available.

If you no longer have either, you can download a windows 7 iso to dvd. Just be careful it does not come from a malware infested site.

If you don't know your product/activation code, run a free app called "magical jellybean keyfinder"

I have a spare ssd and I clone my "C" drive to it as a backup.
I know it will work since I can test it without risking the source.

is it possible to downgrade or upgrade using a iso and since its not a clean install but a install over a previous OS (e.g. W7 to W10 and reverse) , would it still require a key?
