I'd upgrade the core system.CPU: i5-13400 2.5GHz
Unless they're willing to explore the used market, they're not going to be able to get a much better GPU than their 3070, within their budget. If it's for gaming then just a GPU upgrade would probably give you the biggest boost. What resolution do you play at?
I believe the X-Power nomenclature belongs to Xigmatek.what is the model of the psu?
yea mostly for gaming but no problem havin a smoother pcWhat issues are you currently having? Why do you want to upgrade?

no gpu upgrade???Or Alternatively,
An 8 core CPU and Twice the amount of RAM, without the SSD

Compared to the i5-13400, the difference of either CPU is only slightly better in multi-core performance, application depending. The single core performance advantage is significant, however.
An X3D option would be better, but overall AM5 is likely going to provide greater future upgrade opportunity.
Final Alternative (less PSU):

I don't think do.Unless they're willing to explore the used market, they're not going to be able to get a much better GPU than their 3070, within their budget.
If they're playing 1080 - 1440p, a faster core system would be the better direction, anyway.
Im mainly playing loads of asseto corsa, elden ring, rocket league , rainbow six siege, bo6I don't think do.
Their ceiling right now is the RTX 3070. I think that CPU is a good match for that. If playing AAA, new games at 1080p either a CPU or GPU upgrade would help, but I still think a GPU would help more.
OP, what are the top 5 games you want smoother and what resolution do you play at? That'll tell us where the upgrade should go.
At what resolution?Im mainly playing loads of asseto corsa, elden ring, rocket league , rainbow six siege, bo6
no gpu upgrade???
You're putting a lot of money at stake on what you think doh.I don't think do.

I'll leave that on you, to extrapolate from the parts lists which I posted.what if the budget was like 1.5k
Hmmm i see so after i buy a better cpu like the one you’re recommending along with these other parts what gpu should I go for and maybe a monitor for better resolutionThe RTX 3070 is a great GPU,

Assuming you're intended resolution is 1080p and you upgraded your GPU.
You would need at least an RTX 4070 Ti to realize a noticeable improvement, albeit that improvement can only occur if your CPU is fast enough.
Depending on your i5, is a possible 25 FPS improvement worth a thousand dollars ?
Is it worth $800 ?
Do you really want to invest this amount of money into a rig that's using an obsolete socket ?
At 1080p, you're CPU bound. An RTX 5090 would not make a difference unless you have the appropriate CPU muscle behind it.
For Example:
The Benchmarks for the i5 13400 & 9800X3D in this video were made using an RTX 4090

Mind the 1080p difference..

AM4 is dead. And the current GPU market is a mess.
Upgrading your core system (CPU platform) will unlock hidden potential of your current GPU, benefit your entire system now and pave the way for easier upgrades in the future, at a more cost effective pace than replacing the GPU.
You asked for smoother performance. This is the way.
Later down the line, whenever this GPU price situation settles a little, then you can top your system off with an even better GPU than what is currently available, and you'll already have a competent CPU platform to squeeze the performance out of it.
I have spoken
Would a 5070 be compatible with these parts?I'll leave that on you, to extrapolate from the parts lists which I posted.
Choosing a resolution is the first step.and maybe a monitor for better resolution
Idk much about resolution, what increases it , the monitor?? if so is a 2560x1440 one goodChoosing a resolution is the first step.
Yes, the monitor determines the resolution.Idk much about resolution, what increases it , the monitor?? if so is a 2560x1440 one good
how about 1440pYes, the monitor determines the resolution.
The higher the resolution, the more detailed the image is and the more difficult/costly it is to render.
Resolutions and Aspect Ratios Explained
1440p is the next step up from 1080p, at the 16:9 ratio and is much less costly to render than 3840 x 2160 (4K).is a 2560x1440 one good
