Backwards Compatability

I know that DDR 400 memory works in a DDR 266 mobo slot, because it can ran at slower speeds, but is the same true for DDR2 memory, like DDR2 1066 memory running in a DDR2 800 mobo?

Yes, the ratings are just the max speeds. Just like you can drive a Ferrari at 25mph, you can run DDR2-1066 rated RAM at DDR2-667 etc.
