My Intel (I5-4690 based system, ASUS H81M MB, and 16 GB RAM) , Will not boot hard drives, CD's, USB drives, It is like it is stuck in mud and just plods along..10 minutes to bring up windows 7 logo, etc., then just stops.

I have not changed memory. I have not re-flashed the BIOS. I have tried 6 different SSD drives (all identical to the installed boot drive) Today, I thinking it might be the SATA interface, tried to install my Windows 7 Professional 64 bit to a 3.0 USB drive, from a DVD. Same thing..After running 4 hours, it just gave up and locked up.

So..my question: CPU, MB, Memory? What do you guru's think?

Or..What would you suggest I do?

Many thanks in advance!

Joe

Have you tried to run Memtest for the RAM? Though if you can't get a USB stick to work correctly in BIOS that may be an issue. Have you tried booting with just one stick of RAM? Different slots?

Sounds like something along the SATA side which isn't working correctly. You mention trying different drives, but no mention of trying a different SATA port or a different cable. You may have eliminated these variables but don't mention them.
