I recently purchased a Asus Strix 1080ti Oc edition gpu. I installed it as best i can and made sure everything was OK. When i went to play games tho the frames were terrible. On the game Squad i was getting a max of 30 fps. I thought i was supposed to be getting easily over 100. Pls help if possible.

Specs:
Asus strix 1080ti

i7-6700k

16gb ddr4 ram

1920X1080 75hz monitor

Solution

Sounds like the Intel built-in graphics are being used instead of the 1080ti. Either disable the built in graphics by intel, or make the 1080ti the primary.

On 1080p you should get pretty high FPS with your 1080ti.
Try re-installing the Nvidia driver. (I recommend using the Nvidia Experience app for easy driver updates and game setting optimisation)
If that wouldn't work you could try to change some ingame settings like Vsync to see if there is some change in your FPS.

You're right, it's easy to overlook.

Its plugged into the gpu. just checked. i tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling the newest one. that didnt do that much. In squad i put it on medium settings with no vsync and i still got bad fps.

is it a locked 30fps? That card is capable to push 4k content at around 60fps. and 1440p at 165fps.

could you tell me what the Mhz of the core and memory are under load?.
What PSU do you have and how much is it rated for?

when you have fixed your issue.

Could i advice you to a pick up a new 24" 1080p 144Hz monitor? take a look at the ASUS VG248QE.
or go hardcore and grab yourself a 1440p High hz 27" monitor. The Asus ROG SWIFT or ACER predator 27" panels are amazing.-
