As far as I know, you should be getting MUCH better frames more constantly, since my current system gets around 60 FPS at very high settings.

What drivers are you running for your GPU? I'm running the latest and it works fine for me.

version 368.81 most up to date

Hmm... then you might have to run some benchmarks and compare scores to similar systems. Try running 3DMark Fire Strike and comparing GPU scores with other similar systems. Your GPU somehow might be failing or there is something wrong with the drivers.

alright downloading the demo on steam

with the demo i could only do time spy but no one else has done it with a single 970 -.- xD any other program?

Set max GPU number to 1 and compare your scores here. If you get substantially lower scores (especially on the graphics test), try uninstalling your drivers via DDU and reinstalling them. Run the benchmark again and see if you get better scores. If you do, try GTA 5 again and see if you get better frames.

If that doesn't help then there is something wrong with your system, either with your CPU or GPU.

EDIT: re did test here are results http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/14128695?

3538 for me (970 as well). Man that benchmark makes a 970 look like a piece of junk.

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/14128939?

And I run much higher settings in GTAV and get good results. Hmm.

Well, it seems that your GPU score is OK, but your CPU score is very low for a 4770K. Others have been getting around 4000 points for the 4770K but you only got 3131 points.

Now I'm not entirely sure what the problem could be there, either the cooler might have a problem which would make the CPU run hot and underperform or something might be messed up with the clocks or voltages.

Since GTA is a CPU-intensive game, a CPU issue might be causing performance issues.

wouldn't be surprised tbh since i had this cpu ive always had issues overclocking it everytime i try it crashes after a day or so

i mean i can do some more test and record the temps of my cpu but what test should i try?

Run GTAV and see what your temps look like. I'd recommend something like HWMonitor if you don't already have a utility (it'll record the max temp each core/the entire package reaches).

Several benchmarks/stress tests or even a Handbrake video conversion will peg the CPU at 100% to see how far temps will go.

i played for about 45 minutes max cpu temp was 57C and highest temps for gpu was 62C

Absolutely fine. Hmm...

I do get dips to high 40's on mine, but very rarely in specifically unoptimized parts of the game, and I'm running much higher settings than you (over 3 gigs VRAM used). I'd think your i7 should be doing much better.

As a test, turn down grass quality if it will go any lower and see if that improves frame rates.

grass is already lowest settings xD

hmm okay so i rebooted pc and i closed most applications before i had alot running like 30 chrome tabs and other junk i also used this http://coderbag.com/Programming-C/CPU-core-parking-manager

I got better scores http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/14147356?

also vs yesterdays test http://www.3dmark.com/compare/spy/281588/spy/277210

so i think it could be some software i was running i also had a problem with frames on minecraft i could only get like 100 frames with low settings but now i get 250-400 with nothing running

also do you think that i could improve any settings or that one of my settings are bad in evga precision ? i have the gpu temp target 70c cause if my gpu goes over that number it crashes right away but bringing a temp target down also brought the power target to 79% could this be an issue?

I think this is more than a gta issue just the game i noticed it most on

-Thanks again
