Hey guys!
I've had a huge problem in online gaming for the past few months due to the fact that I get huge lag spikes for no reason. These happen in every game usually resulting in me going from 30ms all the way to 2000+ and then back down. This happens at least once every minute and I have no Idea why. It usually only happens when my sister is on her phone. Even if she has it on stand-by with no apps open or anything downloading.

I'm the only one in the house connected via Ethernet cable. Wireless has the exact same result as an Ethernet cable though. I could really do with some help here!!!

Thanks!

Remember usually routers wont broke up without reason.. Could be that your ISP put you in low priority network rules.. and they just dont give a shit.. tell them that u are working in internet or something and i am sure they will put your IP address to at least mid priority list.. ISP in Ireland, UK always have more customers than they can handle, so dont be surprised.. Fight for yourself, but with reason, from objective point of view. so:

1. test your router to gateway address
go to CMD write
ipconfig /all <press enter>
then find your Gateway ip adress.
then write in CMD
ping <gateway adress ex: 192.168.0.1> -t
then you will see latency in ms.. should be 1~2ms maximum.. if it is more than 50, than it means your router has potential...
Ok next question is, when does its happening most often? Morning, evening, night, day, or all the time.?
i have some idea what is happening.. just need more details for bigger picture..
And in what country do you live and what is your Internet providers?

i reckon its either down to a bad router or his internet provider has some congestion problems since its only been happening for a few months.

so the network card at the exchange probably needs upgrading.

if this is ok than WAN port will be ok as well, because routers cpu processes WAN, Ethernet, WIFI ports..
2. if your router is OK, just use diplomacy without anger.. Talk to your ISP to fix the problem..

i have experience in situation like this... so i know :) Hope it helps..
