I'm having trouble getting past the black screen and most of the time my new rig won't start at all. There's no noise. It won't bios at all even when I press delete. Once I did get did get LED lights to go on and fans sounded loud but I never heard any beeps.

I've checked and double checked and tripled checked to see if all connections are plugged in. PSU is plugged in both 4 and 20 pins. Front panels cables are plugged in. So is my driver and sshd.

I decided to breadboard this with just mobo, cpu and psu (it passed the paper clip test) on top of cardboard in my chair. PSU, HSF went off very well so no problems. I also heard beeps because I had taken out the memory.

It beeped again when I entered the memory sticks incorrectly. That's the only time I ever heard it beep. It has the speaker thing installed next to where I have my front button cables are. (pwr button power off, hdd led, led -, led +)

I added monitor from my old computer to mobo then I put in my vid card. The card fan started to spin but montior said no vga display and it never went to bios. checked card. It doesn't seem bent and I don't see bent pins in the PCIe slot. I decided ok..maybe it will bios if i put it in the case when I'm done.

New monitor also works with my old comptuer. I'm using right now.

I added SSHD to this. I didn't need to add my dvd as I already knew it worked from when all the LED lights went on. I was able to open it up and put disk in it then. There were no more beeps but still black screen.

Oh every time, I put stuff in my bread box, I would turn off my psu then unplug it, well you get the routine.

I put everything back in and got the black screen when I turned it on again.

Ok, I tried to rearrange front button LED cables 3x to no avail.
I got a red light on the front of my case but nothing else. Not sure if I got the polarity right or not.

I was able to start stuff on my breadboard when I used a flat screw driver.
Do I have a bad mobo? I'm new to this.

if you have to rma the cpu.............. while on the phone DO NOT miss anything. don't forget to write the return rma number on the outside of the box.............. but also include on paperwork inside the box............ get the address right. return in box with original heat sink/original packaging.

should take just a few days after they get it to get one back............. turn around is quick.

I can not speak on the phone even with my cochlear implant. Very few deaf use TTY/TDD nowadays due to techologial changes. Video phones, computers, the internet and cell phones all made TTYs obsolete. For the record, I don't accept voice calls.

sigh this is still not solved. I rma'd two cpu coolers before I got cooler master geminii m4 to put in my lga 1155 socket. I wasn't able to rma my cpu because I didn't have all of my packaging that came with it. I replaced my 1.6 v RAM with 1.5v RAM so I wouldn't void warranty for my new cpu which is a core i5 3350p. I have all the packing this time so I shouldn't have any trouble RMAing it if I need to.

I decided to try again tonight when I had all the new parts that I need. It still won't post at all.

I decided to breadboard this. Here's what I did and what happened. I hooked up my mobo, cpu & cooler and ran it. No RAM sticks were on Mobo at all. CPU cooler faltered a bit at first and went dead. so I turned the PSU and started all over again. There were no beeps from the speaker though the DRAM light stayed lit till i turned off the PSU. This time cpu cooler spun fast and very quiet. I could barely hear it. Still no beeps from speaker.

I turned it off and put the RAM on. (8 gbs for two sticks. ) I put in the 4 gb stick in first. I turned on PSU. Dram light was on until I adjusted the RAM. I turned off PSU and put in another stick. I turned on PSU. I heard no noise except the fan and it was very quiet. I decided to turn off PSU again and hooked up my old VGA monitor up to my breadboard.

Turned on PSU but my set up would not go into bios at all even after I put my vid card in. I give up for the night. I'm thinking I should take this to the repair guy to figure out if it's the Mobo or the CPU.

I think the CPU cooler could be a problem too because it won't always start out fast and steady. It went slow and then dead a couple of times as well. As as I can tell, my LGA socket on my mobo has no damage at all so that's not hte problem.

I don't want to spend a fortune in shipments and more RMAs only to find out I guessed wrong. I don't know anyone who could loan me a spare mobo or cpu to test things out except my big brother and he lives like 500 miles away.

Right now I feel like kicking my computer down the stairs. 😛 So far I've gone thru two mobos, 2 cpus, at least 2 cpu coolers, 6 sticks of RAM, 2 SSHDs. I'm hoping nothing else is next 😛

Then try reseating the CPU, check the socket for bent pins (again) and if OK install the stock CPU fan, 24 and 4 pin power cables and see if any beeps.
Check also the last separated 4 digits on a thin bar code sticker on the motherboard (board's BIOS version).
If still no beeps, then I think that it would be better testing the components at a local shop.

Ok, checked socket for bent pins. It looks awesome. No bent pins at all. I installed CPU, stock fan and 24 and 4 pin power cables. Still no beeps though fan ran fast and loud. I had a lot more trouble hearing the CPU cooler.

Stock fan also faltered at first but I think that's because I didn't do a good job of shorting the board at first.

Guess I go take my rig to the local repair shop for testing. I trust the guy.

I'm in a very bad mood.

I tried to get my comptuer dx'd. The repair guy said it has something to do with chips and careless shipping re my hard drive though I wasn't able to understand very much of what he was saying.

He said he was able to get windows 7 running. He also said my hard drive was slightly damaged and he was able to fix it. It couldn't read data.

So I brought it back home today. I turn it on. It lights up but there's no sound other than fans. I stare at the black screen for ten minutes hoping something will happen. I decide maybe I can try hooking up my monitor via my video card.

Well, that was when I discovered my case was missing the original screws that came with it. Then when I tried to hook up monitor to my card, it came loose.

I had to take computer back to kitchen and secure the card. Lucky thing I have a few extra screws that came with the case. I assume that the repair guy took the screws from my card to close my case.

Then I went back to living room. I made sure psu + cord and monitor cable were secure before I turned on the computer. Still no bios, no installing Windows 7. Everything seems to work but it just won't go beyond the black screen.

I'm starting to think I should ditch this computer and start on another one using workable parts from old computer.
