Bad YouTube image quality with new ASUS 24 inch monitor

I got a new monitor and when I watch a moving video on any resolution it appears blurry and blotted. I don't think it is an issue with my monitor as if I play a game myself the image quality is incredible but if I watch it on YouTube even on 1080p it looks like I am watching on 360p why is this?

Are you using the old VGA cable, or the new DVI or HDMI cable?

I am using a DVI-D socket (white) (from a GTX 770) to a DVI socket on my monitor using a white Dual link cable ( came with the monitor)

I have an old cpu and this happens with me.

No it's a i5-4670k if anything it gets used way more when I play games rather than watch youtube (i play BF4 and Planetside 2- very CPU intensive games)

My CPU does get overworked when viewing youtube videos on Chrome, I think the new update's flash plugin hogs a lot of CPU.
Anyways, if you don't have that problem, then probably it's something else.
Nevertheless, try changing to HTML5 player in settings.

Strange. On FF+flash my CPU handles 720p playback just fine with <50% CPU
