Hello! I have made a post about my ping spiking before and I got an answer that I can't do anything in my case, but I've realised, that whatever devices are on during the day on my internet don't cause any problems. If its in the evening though, my ping just starts spiking like crazy and I am 90% sure that it's network congestion. I only have 1 cellular tower in my city and my router uses 4G LTE, I know that the 4G can be a problem, but I've heard a lot of stuff about band locking. I am using a Huawei B535-232a router and I couldn't find any way to band lock in the router interface itself, though I know there are 3rd party softwares that can do that for me, I just don't know which ones are safe to use. Any suggestions?

Hard to say about huawei stuff since it isn't sold really in the USA so the FCC rules may not apply.

The cell phone company paid money to operate on certain frequencies in certain areas. Part of the license has requirements about what radio frequencies are used and how much radio power they are allowed to use. To meet these requirements the ISP must be able to control any device that connects. This means even though you own your router the ISP is in full control of the device. This is true even for simple cell phones.

Most devices are designed to prevent the end user from being able to override the ISP ability to control the radios.

Now maybe you could make your device pretend that it does not support say 4g and can only run 3g. This does not mean the ISP license allows it to transmit a 3g signal from that tower so it may not connect. You at best could remove channels but you can not force the ISP to use certain ones.

I doubt this ability exists. They already have large issues with people running devices that are exported to one market being used in another where the frequencies are different. This is why people in the USA buying from aliexpress get mad because a ISP will not activate the device they purchased.
