Greetings.

I am wanting to upgrade my video card to something a bit more powerful, but I am on a very limited budget.

Currently, I am running a Geforce 2 MX 220 32mb. I was hoping to get a Geforce 4 with 128mb. I know there are a ton of good video cards out there, but on my budget, I'm limited to what I can get.

So here is my question...

My budget will allow for around 75 dollars on a new video card. While I would love to buy a TI with all the bells and whistles, I know that it might not be possible with that kind of budget. So here is where I need help. I'd like to get the most for my buck on my limited budget. I'd rather not get stuck with an MX if I can help it, but if I do have to get something like the Geforce 4 MX, at least you folks might be able to tell me which of the cards are the best for the price.

Thank you!

GeForce4 Ti4200/Ti4200-8x is the best card for you (both 64 M and 128 MB version), which costs slightly over your budget.

Stay away from GeForce4 MX/GeForce FX 5200 cards. They are much worse than GeForce4 Ti4200 and have much poorer price/performance ratio.

If you can't buy a GeForce4 Ti4200, then buy Radeon 9100 (250/250 clocked)

you mean a GF2 MX200

if your going to get a GF4, dont get a MX version because it has no more capabilities than your current card, and only slightly more speed

the best card i can recommend is the GF4 TI4600.. can be found for as low as 65 bucks... a TI4200 will give you the same capabilities, only slower .. a GF4 TI4200 is hella cheap right now, and no slouch of a card, almost two steps up from a GF4 MX

Where can a Ti4600 be found for $65? I've seen $100 for a refurb and $140 for a new one, but $65? I'll take 10 of them. :)

Ti4200's with VGA out only (no TV/DVI outs)are easy to find for under $80. If you want TV&DVI outputs for $75, go with a Radeon 8500le or 9100 for around $60 or less.

Seriously, Hope you got one or more. All they have now is an MSI Ti4600 for $145. I'd buy a bunch if I could find new Ti4600's for $65. They charge that much for FX5200's

HERE is a Ti4200 w/ 64MB of memory for $79 + shipping and tax...the 64MB ones were always pretty good because they used faster memory than the 128MB ones to begin with.

Later, they came out with 128MB ones that had the same mem speed, but you'll find them around the $90-$100 range.

FYI, you will rarely see a performance difference between a 64 and 128 meg card. If you're on a budget, the 64 meg Ti4200 will do very nicely.

I want to thank everyone for their help so far. After doing some looking around, it looks like the TI4200 is the way to go at the moment for my budget. Thank you all for the wonderful help!
