ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 Motherboard. Windows 7 SP1.
This recently started. PC ran for over a year with no problems.
When booting from a COLD start my speakers make a loud bang, regardless of the volume setting. It makes an even louder bang when Chrome opens and another bang when Windows closes.
If I do just a re-start, everything is fine.
I have updated all my drivers including the Nvidia drivers, VIA drivers and the Logitech Camera (Which has a microphone) driver.
I have unplugged and re-inserted all leads, re-seated the Graphics card, (The soundcard is part of the Motherboard.)
The sound is very much like that made by a TV Soundbar that is on when you switch off from the wall.
I have no idea what's causing it but there is a difference between a restart and a full shut and start.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Never having watched inane TV programs like celebrety chef, I have no idea what you're talking about.
As far as installing the latest sound chip drivers from the MoBo vendor, I already stated I had installed the lated VIA driver.

Any sensible answers would be appeciated,
Thank you

The loud bang sounds very much like the noise you get when you plug a guitar into an Amplifier that's already powered on. I have tried a different set of speakers, I've used a system image to go back to a time before this started happening. It still happens, which leads me to believe the problem is hardware related. From what I can glean from the web, it seems the circuit is dead until during the boot process when it becomes live, sending a voltage through the onboard soundcard then the amp in the speakers amplifies it and scares the hell out of my wife. It also happens when she opens a Chrome browser and also on shutdown. This is a recent problem, the PC was fine a week ago.
Would a separate PCI-E sound card have any effect?
