So I recently built a PC, and the Seagate 1TB Barracuda HDD that I put in it isn't recognized by windows or any programs I have installed on my machine. According to the operating system, the hard drive does not exist. BIOS says that it's there, and I cant seem to find out how to make it so that the operating system recognizes and uses the hard drive. Not even official Seagate software seems to be able to use the hard drive.

Look in disk management for an unallocated disk. It probably just needs to be initialized and formatted before the OS can use it.

If you don't see it in disk management, open an elevated command prompt (right click run as admin) and type:

diskpart
list disk

See if it shows up in the list of attached disks.

Double checked the SATA connection, turns out that the cable was the problem, so I replaced it, and the drive showed up in disk manager. Thanks for the help, disk works now.
