Battery dying faster after installing a SSD

Hello everyone. I've got an ASUS X550LD laptop and it's 2 years old. 3 days ago i bought an Intel 540s SSD because my laptop was too slow for me. When i had the HDD in my laptop the battery would die in about 2 hours. Now it dies in less than 45 minutes. Does this SSD consume more power than the HDD? Thanks in advance!

battery drain for a ssd should be half that of a hard drive.

Possibly the reason is that your apps are no longer limited by HDD delays and are able to spend more time computing.

It's possible that windows is indexing the drive for Search. Check Task Manager for any high CPU usage processes. If you see this either shut indexing off (doesn't really help on an SSD based system) or let it sit on mains till it's done.
