I ask about computer battery was wanting to know if all battery`s on computer motherboards were the same. I got a reply but when I click the link to read it I got a 404 message. Is there anywhere I can see the reply on the forum.

Although somewhat standardized, not all motherboards use the CR2032 battery. They are all 3-3.3v but depending upon the manufacturer, a smaller or larger size may be used (rare anymore). Here's what the retail site Cablesnmor has to say "CMOS batteries power the real-time clock and RAM function for your PC. For most newer ATX motherboards, the CR2032 is the most common CMOS battery.

Wkipedia says more of the same "The memory and real-time clock are generally powered by a CR2032 lithium coin cell. These cells last two to ten years, depending on the type of motherboard, ambient temperature and the length of time that the system is powered off, while other common cell types can last significantly longer or shorter periods, such as the CR2016 which will generally last about 40% as long. Higher temperatures and longer power-off time will shorten cell life. When replacing the cell, the system time and CMOS BIOS settings may revert to default values. This may be avoided by replacing the cell with the power supply master switch on. On ATX motherboards, this will supply 5V power to the motherboard even if it is apparently "switched off", and keep the CMOS memory energized.
