Splendid
I have been both a PC gamer (building my own rigs) and console gamer for over 15 years now. Both have the pros and cons:
PC Pros: Better graphics; better update and mod support, better peripheral support (joysticks, steering wheels, flight yokes, etc.); cheaper games (average $40 for a new PC game vs. $60 for a new console game).
PC Cons: Way more expensive (for a decent system anyway); can't travel with it easily and share it with family/friends in *their* homes; not a true plug and play gaming system; more and more developers are gearing towards designing for consoles first, then modding a port for PC.
Console Pros: Easy to unbox, plug in, and start playing; ease of portability (can take it with you on an airliner no problem - CARRY ON only recommended!); less expensive up front for killer graphics; a true "party" gaming system for sharing with multiple players side by side (try that with a PC); becoming more like a PC, especially the PS3 which can sub as a home theater PC.
Console Cons: More expensive games; less peripheral support (keyboard & mouse support for FPS games on the PS3 is nil); graphics always three to five years behind the latest PC graphics; internals still get HOT which can lead to failures.
But overall, if I had to choose one platform, it would be the PC. Nothing can compare it for the true to die hard PC gamer. Unfortunately, the future seems to be heading towards some sort of console and all in one CPU/GPU solution. It may be 20 years from now, but the PC as we know it today is on the extinct list.
