I am currently experiencing lag spikes in the game to the point of it being virtually unplayable. There are vids on youtube that represent the problem, but these are lag spikes maybe once every 10th second where I have them once every 3rd second or so. I have tried having all settings at lowest, but it changes little.
Specs (CPU, RAMs and Motherboard all bought at the same time in 2008):
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, LGA775, 3GHz (I tried unparking the CPU cores, and while it did help, it was not enough)
RAMs: 2x2Gig DDR2
Graphics card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 SE (latest R331,65 driver installed)
Motherboard: Gigabyte X48-DQ6
Page file: 2191 used, 5995 MB available
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit (6.1, build 7601)
Since my PC is somewhat outdated, I am considering an upgrade, but I am unsure whether:
1) This will make the game run smooth
2) This upgrade is what I really need
3) A new PSU is needed
4) My current graphics card will be compatible
My upgrade in mind is this:
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231568
Mobo (as current one’s sockets are too old to be compatible): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157293
Also, during my research, I came across one guy saying that the i5 CPU was just as good as the i7 because games do not make use of hyperthreading (which is the core difference between the two)?
Anyway, any comments on my plans will be much appreciated
