Hi,
I bought Battlefield 5 recently and whilst playing I have noticed at random my FPS will dips down to 40-50 fps from 65-70 fps, this also happens during multiple explosions and large gun fights.
I have done a bit of monitoring whilst playing and have noticed that all the cores on my CPU are hitting around 95-100 % load whilst my GPU never goes about 65% Load.

Could this indicate that my CPU is causing a bottleneck for GPU or could it be something else?

Specs:
Intel i7-4790k @ 4.5ghz
16gb 1866 MHz DDR3
EVGA GTX 1080 FTW
MSI gaming 5 z97 motherboard
Battlefield installed on a SanDisk Ultra II SSD 480 GB

Solution
That is a definite sign of a cpu bottleneck. Think you can squeeze any more of an oc on your 4790k? Most will do 4.8 pretty easily if you have a decent cooler. It should help some.

Thank you, oc'd to 4.8, fps dips are not a frequent but are still present. gpu is now being used at 95-100 %.

Would it be smart to looking into upgrades like cpu or gpu. Or do you reckon I could squeeze another year out of the hardware I've got.

Thanks once again
