Earlier today I had to clear my CMOS as my desktop refused to boot after moving to a new location. When I finally got everything back up and running my PC was unbearably slow. I went around and realized that my CPU multiplier was stuck at x8 regardless of CPU load. I've spent the past 3 hours troubleshooting and finally pinned the issue on BD PROCHOT throttling my CPU. I used ThrottleStop to disable BD PROCHOT, fixing my problem, but I've got a few questions:
Why did clearing my CMOS cause BD PROCHOT to go haywire?
How can I get everything working properly again? (Without using the ThrottleStop workaround.)
Update - I forgot to post hardware/specs
CPU - i7 4770K + H100i cooler
MOBO - MSI Z97 MPOWER
PSU - EVGA 850 G2
