I'm thinking about buying an RTX 3080 TI and I'm looking to upgrade my EVGA 650W G3 to a 1000W PSU. I'm stuck between the 1000W G6 from EVGA and the Straight Power 11 1000W Platinum (Titanium is something like 40 $ more expensive and it's not worth it). Which would you choose and why? As for the GPU, I'm thinking about the Asus TUF, MSI Gaming X Trio, Aorus Master or AMP! Extreme Holo.

Also, what's with the weird connectors on the Straight Power? I've seen (on the official page) 12 pin connectors near the PCIe label.

PS: If I were to buy a 3090, would it be ok with 1000W?

1000W is a little more than you may need but that's OK.

I would go for EVGA as it has a 10 Year Warranty as opposed to 5 Years on the Straight Power 11 and I agree for the extra it's not worth it.

Asus TUF are a good MB however It really does depend on what you need be it Overclocking and other features.

I'm not likely to buy it (209$ for not much efficiency gain) but I've heard the Seasonic Prime GX-1000 were having issues with 3080s/3090s, has that been fixed?

That was a couple of years ago where older revisions would trigger the overcurrent protection and shut down the system immediately due to the high transients the 3080s/3090 GPUs put out. The 2019 based Focus GX/GM/PX have fixed mentioned issues.

It is confirmed to have been fixed on the focus-based units. The same cannot be said for the PRIME units. Regardless, don't pay extra for a GX-1000 over an RM1000x.
