Beast Mode Computer Bad Performance In Minecraft?

PC Specs: EVGA GTX 980ti Hybrid, Intel Core i7-6700k, 16 Gb DDR4 Memory, 500 GB SSD (OS), 1 TB HDD (Mass Storage)

I was playing some minecraft on my new PC, and I'm getting suprisingly low performance. I am running the FTB Modpack Infinity. While playing this pack, I get random lag spikes, i will go from 70-90 fps to like 30-40 fps. All around performance is low, with my system, I would think i would be able to run any game at Ultra settings. Please tell me what i might be doing wrong. All my drivers are up to date, and my Java is up to date.

Have you tried vanilla minecraft to make sure it's not the modpack?
Make sure you aren't running max render distance, that is going to greatly effect fps.

Well I have tried Vanilla Minecraft and With ALL max settings and 32 chunks loaded I get 60+ fps. with 16 Chunks loaded and all max settings I get 200+ Fps. But in The modpack I realize that I should not be getting lag spikes my GPU should be able to handle it.

I just also read something online that said replace the "JourneyMap" mod with a different minimap mod. I I will try that.

Well if vanilla is running fine it has something to do with the modpack.
I've never ran modpacks on minecraft, is it possible to disable one mod at a time to find the culprit?

Edit: FYI, minecraft is completely cpu dependent, it uses next to nothing on the gpu side, some shaders or other mods might effect this though.

Ive heard a group of things about modpacks, some mods that add certain things can make the modpack lag alot, but java itself can only operate so much at a time i think it is java loading all the mods that is the culprit.

my CPU can more than handle minecraft it is overclocked
