I have several old PC's that are no longer functioning. I would like to be able to retrieve the data on their internal hard drives. If I remove these hard drives from the case, how best to access these drives utilizing my new PC?
 
Solution
Depending on the interface type, some sort of IDE or SATA to USB adapter should work. Then you would just hook the drive up to your new PC via the USB port to access the data.

I should also add, regarding what ever adapter you might get, to pay attention to the power needs of whatever drive you're attaching. Some of the adapters come with external power adapters and some don't. You would need to attach the old drive to the PSU of your new PC in the latter case. Probably best to get one that comes with an AC adapter like this one:
