That is good, but OP would be able to afford an RX 480 which will perform much better.

perhaps yes...but we dont know the benchmarks yet...and the non founders cards have still time to come...but definitely worth considering...

480 benchmarks are out. It's somewhere between a 970 and a 980 in terms of performance. As for non founders cards, many companies are marking them up in price.

if he can find a rx480 at a similar or lesser price thn its wrth it...else tht build is fine...later on he can upgrade to a 1080ti mayb...

Your build left a decent amount of his budget unused. He could use that money to get a 480.

basically my idea was to gave him the best cpu/board/ram/etc possible and leave some leverage so that if he wants to go for an even better board maybe or a card...
the 1070 wont fit in that budget, so i gave him a lower spec card...i think he can go upto a 970 with the current build...
if the 480 can fit in that budget then thrs nothng bttr ofcourse...

He may as well buy a 480. It outperforms a 970 and is a bit cheaper.

yes he can do that certainly...
