I need to get a new monitor to replace one that has recently broken. I'm pretty sure that I want to get a CRT monitor but I just can't decide which one to get or which one is best. I'm hoping that you guys here can help me with my purchase.

One monitor I'm looking at is the ViewSonic G90fB - http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktopdisplays/crtmonitors/graphicseries/g90fB/

Also, another one that seemed interesting was the ViewSonic E90f+SB -

I don't know which one would be better or if these are even the best of what I can get for a CRT now. I like to run FPS games at a low resolution with high refresh rates and I need a monitor that can run 800x600 at 120Hz. Also, I want a bright, vivid display and great colors. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Rough going for CRT enthusiasts these days. All of the high end units, at least in the 21" range, have been discontinued I think.

I'd also look at:

http://www.necdisplay.com/products/ProductsBySize.cfm?ProductGroup=CRT&ProductSize=19%20Inch&ClassificationFamily=1&Classification=1

However, to find a truly high end unit, especially an aperture grill one, you might have to look at discontinued stock that might still be available...

Looks like Accurate IT still has some new 21 inch GDM class Sony units worth checking out...

Wow missed this topic by a long shot... the G90fb is awesome. I owned it and sold it off for an LCD but back to topic the G90fb is the nicest CRT screen I've ever seen. Though I'm all for wide screen so LCD was the natural way to go.

I would recomend the Samsung, but I've also had good experiences with Viewsonic. Just make sure the max resolution is 1920x1440. 1600x1200 is good, but why not throw a few more pixels in there.

I've never been as impressed by Samsung CRTs as I have been of Viewsonic CRTs. Samsung has a fairly cheap yet impressive 32" wide screen LCD with TV tuner built in. The LN-S3251D, I was so tempted to but it... I wonder if the rumoured flat panel CRTs are going to come out using carbon nano tube technology. Now that would be something more worth while to look at.

I love my samsung syncmaster 955 df 19" flat screen.
bought it 6 years ago and it's still going strong.

if this breaks, which i don't hope, I'll be looking for a lcd.
the viewsonics are nice, too. but i really don't like the
curved screen.

ViewSonic G90fB has been my monitor for a couple of years now. It is still awesome. I am considering going to a 22" widescreen, but I just do not know if it will be worth it.
