So some people keep 107 cats and kill their neighbor with an ax.

It's not. A 600W power supply will waste hardly more energy, if any,
than a smaller supply with the same load, but a Hummer will use 2-3x
the energy of a regular car and cause people to assume the driver has a
fat gut and needs Viagra.

what is this a contest of who can 'claim' the bigger member....?
utter overkill on every scale
and not a mention of what a system like that would be used for. SLI......OMG
1990's tech., there wasn't a 600w PSU around then.

I agree, if people want to get a 600 W power supply, they should
go for it. After all, they can't use more power than they use --
meaning, regardless of the rating of the PS, the computer is going
to draw the same amount of power. Having too big a power supply is
like having a V-10 engine and driving around the city at 30 MPH.
I'm wondering when the power supply of a computer will start to
overload a house circuit (when maxed that is). The average circuit
is fused for 1500 W. Seems sort of funny to me if we get to the
point when you can't plug in your toaster and computer at the same
time, or you'll blow a fuse.

In article Al Smith says...

So you're quite happy with the computer industry ripping off people by
telling them they need to buy stuff they don't need?

People want to be ripped off. As long as they think they are
getting something bigger, noisier, badder and more powerful than
the next guy, they are happy. I bet there's a demand for 700 W
power supplies, by those who want bragging rights over those who
own 600 W PS.

Why would a person be judged on wanting to get somthing? Why does he want a
600W PSU. It does not matter. So what if he wants it. Thats his business.
Who has the right to judge him or anyone for having a Hummer or a 600w PSU?

Thank you, i'm just thinking of the future...to get a PCI-E compliant PSU
with high wattage to TRY and future proof. As much as you can in this PC
game.

600W is a nice number. I have not heard of anything going to a different ATX
style or what ever. So I think you will be ok for a while.

But of course, why think when you can just go on autopilot.

My Antec is fine, but i want a PSU that is BTX and PCI-E ready + extra juicy
to future proof.

Perhaps you should think about that.

No silly, it would just smell and have breadcrumbs on the bottom of my case.

Depends on how one defines "dumbass", personally i think you're more
interested then say others are, but to answer...i'll be whatever you want me
to be, on the internet.

An SLI bridge?.....might need one soon.
