Hi, well i have an AM2 motherboard (Biostar 740g M2+) and i wanna know which processor could be the best processor, considering that im not OCing much because im noob at it, thats why im asking help, if you know any processor that can be easily OC or something, im asking for that

Thank you a lot.

PS. If you gonna comment "not worth buying it there is an core i5 7400 with ddr4 your PC is shit"ill appreciate if you keep your comment for yourself.

The best chips for that socket is the Phenom X4 9600 series. These are, however, an AM2+ CPUs, so you have to check if the latest bios for that board supports them.
The 9750 and 9850 both have 95W and 125W variants, the lower tdp ones might be harder to find.

I checked and they seem to fit except that it only supports up to Phenom x4 9600, i dont know if it supports those 95w versions of 9750 and 9850, ill assume not since they are not listed, however in the download section there are interesting bios updates:

-A74GM916.BSS / Update BIOS code ( Beta ) / 1024 KB / 2009-09-16

-A74GMB18.BSS / Update CPU micro code. (The BIOS unable to support over 95W CPU.) / 1024 KB / 2008-11-18

Wasnt it that it supported 95w and below? If it does, why arent they listed on teh CPU support list? I've seen other motherboards with the 740g chipset supporting Phenom II and Athlon II so why this one doesnt (even when same biostar has motherboards of this same family that do support them)?

Tbh im not with the money to try and buy a Phenom II which could not work here or updating bios and fucking up something lol.

probably weak VRM yeah. Well i currently have a Athlon 64 x2 4200 which i could only to 2.5 GHz and tbh is no where near as the core 2 duo e8600 i previously had. i dont know, maybe i could try with a crappy athlon II x2

one more thing, the phenom x4 9650 comes with unlocked multiplier or whats its benefit upon 9600? does the also 9500 comes with unlocked multiplie?

you are right, jus tthat seeing this quad cores are barelly keeping with a stock clocked c2d wolfdale doesnt feel too good, but yeah i may not want to fry the vrm on this motherboard, not yet at least haha. Thanks for the help
