I don't think it is overkill. You might regret buying the 2GB card in the future. Take BF4 for example, it requires a minimum of 3GB VRAM for optimal settings. If you ever upgrade your monitor to a higher resolution or decide to go multi-monitor you will need that extra 2GB. It is better to have more than not enough when it comes to PC specs. Also, if you ever want to go SLI and a 4GB card is on sale, the 2GB card will limit the whole setup to 2GB. Plan ahead. Get the MSI.
