I currently have an AMD FX 6300 Black Edition Processor and my Motherboard is an Asrock 990FX Extreme3 Motherboard, My GPU is a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 970 (something to do with Windforce aswell) and my PSU is 650 watts I think and I have 8GB of RAM. My budget is around £150 but could stretch to £200 but run any idea past me - even up to £250.

I'm looking for a new CPU to do high end gaming, I play Dayz, CSGO, Battlefield 4 and I'm looking to play GTA V and Fallout 4.

Dayz runs playably on lowish settings, its a pain but I have learnt to deal with it so thats not a huge issue.

On CSGO I get around 200 fps on most maps but 100 on some, I'd like a stable high number as I play it at a fairly high level.

Battlefield I don't notice anything wrong with it - I play on High settings very smooth, I think I tried Ultra before and it may have been alright but i do remember crashing previously on it.

Finally, my boot-up time is slow, this is a bit annoying for me and someone has suggested putting my Windows on an SSD, not sure how good of a fix that would be (I have a 1TB Hard Drive).

Do I need to upgrade my motherboard for what I want? What processors do you suggest? Is it worth swapping to Intel?
I also think that i may be switching to two monitors so if that helps I'm not sure, thanks for any help in advance.

If you want to keep your motherboard, you could get a FX 8320. But you could also try to overclock your FX 6300 provided you got a decent cpu cooler and power supply.
For boot-times, yes a SSD will help. It will definitely be faster than a 1 TB hard drive.
AM3+ socket is a dead end now since AM4 is coming in 2016. I wouldn't get another motherboard unless you have to.

Is there a beginners guide to OCing? i never have done it before and the idea scares me to be frank

the FX 8370 ..

Download AMD Overdrive. Its free software from AMD .
Run the autoclock sequence which will overclock for you and then stress test to see if everything is OK
