Best answers don't add up?

Just something I've noticed. Snooping on someone's profile, usually see the total tally doesn't quite add up. Why's that?

Best guess when a best answer is removed, it probably stays on their count

Possibly. Some I've seen there a thousands unaccounted for.

Trivial thread I know lol but just curious. Wondering if server migrations had anything to do with it.

I suppose one could fluff this number up with a second account and get lots of them removed for not being accurate?

There are quite a few questionable high numbers

More fishy when I see someone in the top two in a month for a category that I didn't see notice I'm any threads I'm on... But who knows

Adding up best answers based on badges? Badges are based on tags. You can get credit for multiple badges with a single BA based on the tags. Say you get a best answer in a thread with CPU, Intel and Graphics Card tags. You get counted for a single best answer but it counts toward the CPU, Intel and Graphics Card badges.

Is that what you meant? Also the tag system as it exists now only goes back to early 2013.

I see. Yeah, meant the badges. If you get credited for multiple tags, then it should amount higher wouldn't it? Badges/tags i've seen are much lower than the final score. If i understood you correctly theres quite few years missing in the badges/tag system but final score is original.

I once asked an OP to remove a Best answer he had given me, since another helpers reply actually was he best one. When he did, both my badge count and total count went down.

Hmm I've never paid attention to see if that happened I remove a lot of Miss click solutions people give me but I really don't care about the badges I just enjoy helping people
