i am about to buy intel core i7 4790k and i need from the owners of this processor to share their experience about the best batch for overclocking i know it is all about luck. but i need a specific batch no. for a good chip. thanks in advance.

generally the chips from Costa Rica work out a little better then anywhere else. This has been true since haswell launched... the chips from SE Asia however tend to be the weakest overclockers. It's not due to anything from the fabs... it seems chips from anywhere overclock well when you delid them. It's because the SE Asian fabs seem to have a major thermal paste problem, that causes their chips to overheat badly. Delided those chips are fine, but if you have zero interest in deliding the cpu and voiding your warranty, then avoid those chips like the plague.

I can get a list of fabs for you and some overclocking numbers. might take me a few days though.

I too have got a X batch 4790k that overclocks good. I'm running it 24/7 with 47x @ 1.225v and 45x cache @ 1.15v.
My max stable is 49x @ 1.3v. So after delidding that thing I'm pretty sure it can make 50. I'm on water but not from the UK^^.
That's also a nice chip you got there!

Batch Number: X439B311

X438B201 here. Average overclocker: 4.8GHz requires 1.29V ....

However, 4.7 requires 1.25V ....... and that's really nice imo. Right now running at 4.7 @ 1.25 24/7 for quite some time.
