I am headed off to college next year and was wondering if it would be to my advantage to take my current Laptop with me or take a desktop with a tablet. If I got a desktop I would build one with approximately a 2,000 dollar budget (Including Monitor and Keyboard... Already have a mouse.) and would get a decent Android tablet. Or would I be better off just saving the money and keeping my laptop. Keep in mind I am going to be a Computer Science major and like to game and video/audio edit in my free time.

Current Laptop Specs:
i3 @ 2.53 Ghz
4GBs DDR3 Ram @ 1067 MHz
Radeon HD5450M 512MB

Desktop (you can upgrade a desktop) and a tablet (if you really want a tablet).

I would just build a desktop, and use the current laptop on the move.

Your laptop is not going to game well at all, but should be ok for uni task.

Now head off to the "system" section for advice for a new build and the "laptop" section for advice on a tablet (if you really want one).

There's a lot of resource out there. You should do your research on the Internet, with 1 or 2 hours I think you can find what you looking for. I think the same as Pyree, I would just build a desktop, and use the current laptop on the move.
