I Just ordered a RTX 2070 and am wondering what Ryzen cpu I could get that would be capable of running games like: Escape from Tarkov, Rust and many other games. I currently have a 1660 super and a ryzen 5 1600. I am trying to get a cpu that will give me good performance but trying to stay as cheap as possible, also has to be a ryzen because I have a b350m mbo, thanks.

Ryzen 3 3100, 3300x, 3600. dont forget to, uninstall all processors in device manager like this (should be 12 on yours, also when it asks for restart, click on no):

And uninstall the chipset driver/software in control panel, uninstall the gpu driver using ddu, then restart to bios and update the bios to the latest and shut down, replace cpu, boot up to bios again and load optimized. then install the latest amd chipset driver, reboot, and go to power plan, make sure the power plan is on amd ryzen balanced. and you're good to go (mostly this steps is to prevent cpu underperforming or bugs, as it worked on most of my friends.)

Also I was looking at benchmarks and the first 2 cpus that you mentioned seem to be performing similarly to the ryzen 5 1600?

How much of an fps increase do you think I would get from going from a 1600 to a 3300x or a 3600?

i wouldn't say alot fps in overall, depends on the settings, but the ipc increase from 1600 to 3300x or 3600 over 16%. and that number might sound not huge, but it does give you the best performance per clock per core compared to 1600. if you wanted to spend a little bit more, sell the b350 mobo and the 1600, also if your ram kit slow, just sell all of those 3 if you wanted to. then go for a B450M Mortar or Steel Legend, asks the seller to update the bios to the latest, then buy a 5600G, and 2x8gbs of ddr4 3600 or 4000 if the budget fits. it will offer almost 19%+ ipc increase from 1600.

anyways, what is your full pc specs?

Right now Im am running:
GPU gigabyte rtx 2070
CPU ryzen 5 1600
MBO b350m mortar arctic
RAM crucial ballistix 2x8gb ddr4 2666mhx
HDD 1tb western digital caviar blue
SSD western digital green 120gb

I also currently have a i7 8700k that I got for a really good price with my gpu that I bought second hand. I am planning on reselling it for a profit but I was considering buying a motherboard that is compatible with it instead of a new cpu?

If i were you, i sell those 2 cpus and motherboard, buy a B450M Mortar or Tomahawk (or it's b550/m equivalent), or a B560/M and any 10th/11th gen intel cpus.

Correct me if im wrong but doesn't the 8700k compete pretty closely with 10th and 11th gen? I am trying to save as much as I can so If it is not a lot better for quite a bit more money I cant justify it.

if you profit more after you sold those 2 cpus, mobo, and ram, you could get an i5 10400f, a good b560/b560m motherboard, and a 3600mhz ram. and it might that you will still have some leftover, depends on how much you sell those, and how much you're planning on the budget. Here in my country, an i3 10100F + B560M A Pro or Pro4 + 2x8gb ddr4 3600 cl18 is the best combo because of how cheap they are and how useful they are comparing to buy an amd system (the price here is riddiculously insane here) or any intel system below lga 1200 series, even an i7 7700K is pretty darn high here XD

I understand what you are saying but 1. I feel like the ram isn't going to affect performance by heaps am i right? and also I am trying to come away with the most money I can its just In games like rust and escape from tarkov I am barely hitting 60fps with a 2070 and r5 1600. If I just buy a new motherboard and put in the i7 8700k into it, that will be easier and it will probably get the same performance as selling the cpu and getting a 11400f or something like that right?

In Australia, If I sell the 8700k it will probably sell for around 250-280 aud, and a brand new 11400f is $260. But that would mean i would not have to go through the hassle of selling everything. I would do that but if the performance is not heaps different is it worth it?

Pair that 11400F with this board along with an aftermarket h/s. Later on when you get more money add a set of 2x8GB 3200mhz CL16 RAM.

So both of you seem to think that I should sell the 8700k, why is that? I don't mind selling it and on your recommendations I will but just wondering the reason for it?
