I Just ordered a RTX 2070 and am wondering what Ryzen cpu I could get that would be capable of running games like: Escape from Tarkov, Rust and many other games. I currently have a 1660 super and a ryzen 5 1600. I am trying to get a cpu that will give me good performance but trying to stay as cheap as possible, also has to be a ryzen because I have a b350m mbo, thanks.

Ryzen 3 3100, 3300x, 3600. dont forget to, uninstall all processors in device manager like this (should be 12 on yours, also when it asks for restart, click on no):

And uninstall the chipset driver/software in control panel, uninstall the gpu driver using ddu, then...
How much of an fps increase do you think I would get from going from a 1600 to a 3300x or a 3600?
~20-30% gain on average FPS... and even a noteworthy 40% gain in HItman...! (Nothing to sneeze at, very nice IPC gains in both the jump to 2nd and 3rd gen Ryzen)

I was looking at the

This one is cheaper and is in stock at a store very close by, thoughts?

and do you think a 11400f will outperform a 3600?

Unfortunately there are no cheap Ryzen CPU's to put on that board. Anything less than Zen 2 would be a waste of time and they don't always play nice with the 300 series boards. If you were buying now then the cheapest options are the Intel 10400F or 11400F and either a B460M or B560M board. The former can be had with a good quality board for £218 in the UK, that's cheaper than a Ryzen 3600.

Though I am a little surprised, the 1600X may not be the fastest 6 core gaming chip on the block, but it's hardly rubbish. What's the problem your having with these games?

It's not a 1600x just an old 1600. I am having many issues, rust on minimum graphics struggles to push 60 fps with a rtx 2070 and also escape from tarkov is around 40 fps. New games like forza horizon five rin fine 100 fps+ on ultra settings.

My friend who has my old hand me down 1060 3gb and a ryzen 5 2600 gets more fps than me in these games.

Yes sorry I meant 1600, it's a little slower than the 1600X but not that much slower. I've used 1rst, 2nd and 3rd gen Ryzen for gaming and I've used Intel so I'm familiar with the performance of them but I've never actually played the games you mentioned. It does sound like they don't perform as well on Ryzen or at least that seems to be the case with Rust.

Unless I've missed something, your B350 doesn't support Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000). In terms of your options, if you can find a 2700X cheap anywhere then that would probably be a worthwhile improvement. Otherwise your looking at a new board and CPU, in which case at the price range your talking about then there aren't any worthwhile AMD options without spending more and moving to something like the 5600G.

I notice you say you have an 8700K, that's streets ahead of the 1600, that would fix your problem. That's slightly faster than the 10400F, but they are fundamentally the same thing. My only doubt is whether you can get a board for it at a reasonable price. I know here in the UK you can get a 10400F and a very good quality board for not that much money but it can be tricky with the older boards.

Can I ask what country you live in and what it is your max budget?

Hey, yeh thanks, I live in Australia and I was thinking of maybe going for a 11400f and a b560 which i can get for 390aud which is 209 pounds for you. And Planning on selling my 8700k, as i got it for a really cheap price and I only bought to make profit of it. But if the 8700k is similar performance to the 11400f and I can find a cheapish motherboard is it worth taking that route?

well kinda yes, kinda no actually unlezz z390 priced real nice there, and the upgrade option would be only 9900k, 8c 16t.

afaik B560 is the recent motherboard that could run ram speed above the limit, well since i'm the opportunistic person, if i were you rather get a very cheap but good z390 motherboard, or grab an 10/11400f + b560 board, and since the ram prices between 3200mhz and 3600mhz cheap kit aren't thaat, much different, definitely going with 3600mhz.

That's a good combo for that money, the 11400F is faster than the 8700K but in games I would expect them to be fairly similar. I would note though the 11400F uses a reasonable amount of power so you'll want a board with decent VRM's and a decent after market cooler. The B560M boards will let you use XMP as well so you can run high speed RAM with them.
