What I'm about to describe may not really exist, but I'll give this a shot.

I'm just curious if anyone can help me decide what would be a good phone upgrade

My ideal phone gets the job done quick and efficiently, but is otherwise pretty bare-bones.

To illustrate this point, my current phone is now a couple years old, Samsung Galaxy Luna (StraightTalk phone) that cost $60 and runs on Android 6. Storage is decent, I have an SD card which helps. The camera could be better, but I have a DSLR, so if I want a good picture, I'm not taking it with my phone. Other than that, it boils down to app usage. In some apps, like google maps in particular (occasionally having Spotify play at the same time), the experience is lagging and slow. This is the factor that I would like to improve on.

Lastly my target price point is $100, and I might be willing to go up to $150

You can get iPhone SE if you are a iOS fan while pocophone f1 is the best budget android phone with snapdragon 845 and all flagship features. It is under the brand of xiomi

I actually just saw this today, which sparked my interest in creating this topic.

I did like the idea of it, with the "lite" apps, the experience would hopefully run a bit smoother. However I am a little adverse to this option as this can unknowingly limit what apps you can have on your phone. In this case I would still like the ability to have different apps on my phone that are not limited to just major social media and google applications.

That and I should clarify. I would like to have GPS capabilities on the phone.
