Yes, I know there is lots of these budget psu forums but I would like some advice, what would be the best PSU for me on a budget, I do not want to go over 100$ and although this may sound crazy but I am wondering if 80$ can get me anything good for 700W, something that wont explode after 2 minutes of using. is buying used power supplies a huge risk?

Solution
You don't really need 700W unless you're doing a major GPU upgrade.

WIth this PC, you'd be fine with this. The problem with Raidmax was quality, not output wattage.

Now, if you're planning major upgrades that will use the PSU you buy, then I'd go for the one I linked above or, if it's a major step up, I'd invest in something like an RMx 750.

You can't get any good PSUs of at least 700W for $80 anymore unless there's a significant promotion on one. Parts shortages and some years of high inflation have taken its toll. $80 in 2018 is $96 five years later.

What will your proposed PSU suggestion be powering? You also need to understand that if a quality PSU dies, it will not take out other components. If a cheap PSU with corners cut dies, it'll take out everything or almost everything that it's hooked up to.

If the specs to your build is listed in the sig space of your account, then please add that to the thread's body, as sig space specs can and will change over time rendering this thread and possible solutions, moot. This is why I've included them here;
