The submission period is now over. Please cast your vote here.

We recently updated our rules for Best PC Builds. m-ITX builds no longer require WiFi. Please see below for our full list of rules.

The Best PC Builds. Our title is practically self-explanatory. Unlike the System Builder Marathon, these configurations are not chosen by Tom's Hardware's editors. They are submitted and selected by our forum members based on defined pricing tiers. Every so often, we ask the community for its help picking parts based on performance and features for the price.

It's a new year and while certain parts of the industry could be labeled as stagnant, *cough* CPU architectures *cough*, there has been drastic progress in form factors and distribution. With the introduction of "mini" sized graphics cards such as the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 Mini ITX and the ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 Mini, as well as the near standard requisite of space for full sized graphics cards, the mini-ITX form factor is now a viable form factor for any budget. The coming advent of true on-demand streaming from the likes of Nvidia further solidifies the mainstreaming of m-ITX. And so, for the first time ever, mini-ITX and SFX builds may compete in every single budget category. Are you up to the challenge?

The voting period will run until Wednesday, February 22nd, so be sure to vote for your best build by that date. Click on this link to vote for your favorite build in each category.

This thread is for the unlimited budget category. Please only submit builds that cost more than $2,500. All other builds will be disqualified.

Here are the ground rules:

  • Only one build per budget category, per user. Multiple builds from a single user or duplicate accounts will be disqualified.
    ■Do not go over budget.
■Use only Amazon OR Newegg to source parts.
■Use list prices only: coupons, rebates, bundles or any other limited-time offers will not be accepted.
■Do not include shipping or tax in your final budget.
■Do not include the Operating System, Monitor or VR Headset, Keyboard, Mouse or Gamepad.
■Do not put your forum handle in the name of your build, and avoid odd capitalizations & symbols.
Provide links to the Amazon or Newegg product pages of each component — we encourage users to use PCPartPicker's System Build for speedy construction. Do not post a link to your build, but rather please be sure to export as BBCode for a quick copy/paste to the forums.
Here are links to all eight build categories:

Good luck and may the best build win!

So to explain this rather than get some off the shelf liquid cooler, I decided to go the full CPU - GPU liquid loop route in a gigantic Phanteks Enthoo Primo.

Notes:

1. The Xeon E5-2673 v4 20C @ 2.3 /3.3 (3.6GHz max.) has an average Passmark single CPU rating of 24201. The pair providing a total of 40 cores /80 threads for thread- distributed compute-intensive processing, analysis, simulation animation, and CPU rendering, and the 3.6Ghz maximum speed produces a single-thread rating of 2003 ,sufficient for complex/large scale 3D modeling / animation. The Xeon E5-2679 v4 is 20C @ 2.5 /3.3GHz with a higher compute rating of 25236 but single-thread rating of 1837.

2. The Supermicro X10DRG-Q is unique as it provides four PCie x16 GPU slots that all accommodate double-height GPU's without covering another PCIe slot.

3. The four Quadro P6000 GPU's ( Pascal GP102) provide 96GB of 384-bit GDDR5X memory at a maximum 432GB/s memory bandwidth and a total of 15,360 CUDA cores (3,840 each), providing a compute performance of 12 TFLOPS single precision. Each P6000 can support four 5K monitors. there is only one Passmark test of a Quadro P6000, resulting in a 3D mark of 11926 which is the 3rd most powerful GPU in Passmark results. For comparison, the No, 2 result is GTX1080= 11971 and No. 1 Titan X Pascal = 12929. Power rating = 225W

4. The OS .Programs plus: active projects, libraries, reference are accommodated on the Samsung 960 Pro 2TB.

(this is my idea of my own personal ultimate computer, obviously other people will be putting together rigs in the tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars with all sorts of fancy bling and water cooling stuff...but that ain't me.)

That's the way we go. Aaaaaaaallll Out.

Nice one bambiboom nothing less expected from our workstation guide. In fact we expect more.

King Dranzer,

Thanks -very much appreciated.

It should actually work well, and my local particle accelerator lab where I did a small project has a row of eleven systems for experiment simulation that each cost more than this one- they have 1TB of RAM, 4X Xeon E7-8800 series, and 4X Tesla P100's but probably, the moral of the story is that no one should ever say the words "unlimited budget" to an architect..

So, shall I do a $90,000- $100,000 one?

Oh, I completely forgot the $5,600 sound interface,..

Let's make it $110,000,..

Cheers,

BambiBoom

CPU having 44 cores/88 threads with all cores running at boost 3GHz clock speed.
Memory consist of 16 x 64GB Crucial DDR4 ECC RAM modules which add up to 1TB of memory.
GPU overkill 4 x NVIDIA Quadro P6000 what else to say.
Storage comes with 4TB Intel PCIe SSD main boot drive + 16TB SSD Support(4 x 4TB SAMSUNG 850EVO) + 60TB HDD support(6 x 10TB WD Gold) Not able to decide what RAID config to use(many options available).
CASELABS MAGNUM STH10 to fit this crazy components in.
PSU 2 x Corsair AX1500i as single AX1500i is insufficient.

Sky is the limit

Yes make it as high as possible. Wanna see it.

This is the first time Moderators on this forum have given members the opportunity to go all out with the budget of the build. Make it as high as possible.

We are spending time and trying to put-up a hell of build and you blew it off by providing single link.

What to say......... 😱

Yes, I fully acknowledge that my 'build' is not from the two approved retailers.
But that is just the (il)logical extension of "unlimited budget ".

Now that we've joked over it, it is gone.

The Sensibly Overpriced Build!

Designed at the core as a workstation, but also has gaming in mind.

Few words.

Color theme: White.

Fans
2x ML120 to bottom intake (thus removing 3.5" drive cage).
3x ML140 to replace case stock fans (2x 140mm front intake, 1x 140mm rear exhaust).
4x ML140 to rad in push-pull to replace rad stock fans. Rad as top exhaust.

Fan controller
2x ML120 + 3x ML140 case fans to NXZT Sentry 3 for manual controlling.
Optional: 4x ML140 rad fans into case's stock 3-speed fan controller.

M.2 SSD
Despite pcpp saying that 3rd M.2 slot is needed, MoBo already has 3x M.2 SSD slots and it can support 3x M.2 SSDs running at once just fine.

Note: The two additional Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-3000 PWM 109.9 CFM 120mm Fans are for the CPU cooler so it will be in a dual-fan configuration with these fans. The fan that comes with the cooler would have to be replaced. Cooler selections are very limited for "LGA2011-3 Narrow" motherboards, and the Noctua NH-U12DXi4 is the best cooler for it ATM. (At least from Amazon and Newegg)
