Best CPU For A Home Theater PC

I am Considereing building a computer for my Home theater. I am a complete Novice when it comes to building a PC. My main goal is to be able to produce HD 3d Blu Ray and HD audio 24/36 Bit, 96/192 Khz.
I am not affraid to spend the money for top quality but do not want to over build.
I was considering the i7 4770k cpu, Asrock Extreme 4 mobo. Not sure of what Video or audio card or if one is even needed. Is the onboard graphics and audio good enough for my application. Any helpful hints or suggestions would be appreciated!!!

you dont need such a powerful cpu for a htpc. amd apu (a series) are great for playback and they do also a bit of gaming on the side and they dont cost an arm and a leg like the i7.

An i7 is WAYYYYY overkill. I would get an FM2 APU. Actually you might want to wait till January when AMD's Kavari comes out...

AMD A10 5800k or 6800k on a fm2+ motherboard with TWO sticks of 1866mhz RAM.
