Hello. I'm looking for best cpu for CS:GO under 100$ (used). I'm playing at 1024x768 with GTX 960 and I need over 200fps. Which is the best? Some Xeons? I found X5460 (OC 4ghz), X5670 (OC), X5680 (OC) and i5-2500k (after oc to 4.5ghz). If someone has better option, please tell me.

Not sure I support your choice there, the pentium will be a much more solid performer, but I'm starting to think you're working with an overall $100 budget? And not just for the CPU? If that's the case, your choices aren't bad, and you'll probably get what you're looking for out of that setup.

Please don't buy an FX 4300, I could go on for days of the reasons why not to, but I'll simply state that I have a cousin with a 4300 and a GTX 760, and a brother with a i3 6100 (Only slightly better than the pentium) and a 1050 ti, and the performance difference is huge. Yes, I know that the 1050 ti beats a 760, but most of the bottlenecks my cousin encounters are CPU related.

Again though, if you're working with a total budget of $100, an old...

Just seems like you aren't up to date with the newest hardware, brochacho.

Don't get any FX, the Source engine is so badly optimized already for Intel architecture, let alone for the old AMD FX one.

You want a 4 core CPU for it, any of those Xeons will deliver you easily 250+ fps on CSGO and paired with that gtx 960 you should get stable 300fps.

RYZEN is great, planning on doing a mITX build with the 1600 once there are more options.

AMD FX is pretty trash, don't get it in 2017.

I sense a weakness in arguing when someone starts calling people fanboys, because of impatience and rushed judgements. I love it.

Giving an alternative option, which might be something new, isn't a bad thing. Perhaps it'll extend his knowledge in deciding what he wants to buy.

Its not as simple as "if you can get a xeon for under 100 go for it"
Models matter, speed matters, cores matter.
There is no such thing as an "Intel Socket". If you're going to argue about which CPU is better you should have some basic knowledge.

In my opinion I would get the G4560. Even though its near half your budget it can still outperform most of the 100$ i3s.

If you want to go AMD, wait for the Ryzen AMD APUs - which will be available soon - and they will be much better than the FX 4300 and will compete with the Intel i3 and Pentium G. The current quad core R5-1400 which retails for $163 and is better than the FX-4300. Supposedly the Ryzen R3s will be available soon which will be around the $100 - $150 range and will be in the same category as the Intel i3s and Pentium Gs. We're not against AMD here - many of us mods have AMD rigs and/or are considering buying AMD processors for our rigs.

If you dont have a really old cpu i would not buy anything to run that game, i had an i7 950 at 3.0Ghz paired with a GTX 960 4Gb and it performs exactly the same that my current build, i7 7700k same GPU, the game is just not great at performance you can see here and all over the internet thousands of "im getting low fps/fps drop in cs:go" posts.

So all in all you can rpobably spend some cash and dont see any benefit on that game.

In my case i do motion graphics and wanted faster renders thats why i upgraded actually im turning my i7 950 into a back up gaming machine.
