Hello guys.

What is the best CPU I can get that is available for this PC without having to buy a new motherboard?

What about AMD FX 8300?

I just want to replace my current CPU (AMD Quad 845 3.8 GHZ).

Graphic card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 2GB (OC-version)
RAM: 8GB 1866MHz DDR3 Crucial Gaming
Harddrive: 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 7200rpm
Chassi: Deepcool Tesseract
Motherboard: Gigabyte F2A88XM-DS2P (USB3.1)

I am sorry for the confusion, I am giving a through explanation so that you make the right choice, Go for the Ryzen R3 1200
You pretty much have the best type of CPU for the socket, which is FM2, not AM3, so FX chips won't work in it.

You are limited to the A series processors and Athlon chips. You could get something like an Athlon 860K and overclock it, but it isn't worth it. Replace the motherboard and get yourself a new Ryzen R3-1200 and some DDR4 memory.

Do you have suggestions to motherboards that I need to be able to use the best CPUs Like i5, ryzen etc as you said.

Not in particular, a quick comparison below. A B350 motherboard will let you overclock any Ryzen CPU, and the R3-1200 is a decent processor, similar to a slightly older Intel i5.

I'd be hard pressed to recommend an Intel i5 right now. They are good processors, just not much of an upgrade path. An R3 build will let you upgrade to an R5 or R7, 4C/8T, 6C/12T, 8C/16T all with the same socket.

A brand new Intel i5 gets you a quad core with good IPC, the potential to upgrade to an i7 4C/8T CPU, and not much else. You have to spend extra to get overclocking, on both the CPU, Motherboard, and your own CPU cooler.

Intel does have a new release coming with 6C and 6C/12T CPUs and might be a better choice for gaming in the near future. AMD has the budget quad core market pretty well rounded out.

First one looks like solid build.

I want to prepare my PC for destiny 2 coming out in october. I played the beta on my rig currently and it works but the thing is my cpu is hindering my gpu to work at maximum performance. My gpu works at 60-80% wich is not good at all, but i can still play the game, that is not the issue. Game is playable. But I want my stuff to work to its maximum potential and have a better experience (like avoiding fps drops at certain areas) so that is why im looking for a new cpu.

That cost is not that much at all TBH. Really good price. But do I really need DDR4?

I did peruse a recent review from Gamer's Nexus that tried Destiny 2 against all kinds of hardware. Looked like the R3-1200 was adequate, just need a fairly good GPU, and I imagine the GTX1050 could do it, but look through the video to be sure. (They also have this stuff posted on their website, but I can't get to anything with the word 'gaming' in it through the firewall.)

The current motherboard you are using is a major limitation, I would recommend that you upgrade it, since Destiny is still on Beta, we do not know how well optimised it will be for Ryzen and Intel. However if you are looking for the best bang for your buck you a Ryzen 5 CPU, 1400 or 1600, and an overclocking motherboard. You will be able to get quite a bit of performance for the price.

Yes you will be needing DDR4 ram if you upgrade to a newer platform, since the newer systems does not support older ram.

Yea think Im gonna go with the 1200 or 1400 ryzen R3. It is adquate for sure. Looking through the video right now.

Yea Eximo has given me some great options and I will for sure upgrade my motherboard before destiny comes out on PC and have new CPU and all.

But what do you mean by we do not now how well it will be optimized for ryzen and i5?

Please do remember that the game is still in Beta and there will be more optimisations done to the game so that there will be better performance on both Intel and Ryzen, since we do not know which one will give you the best performance it is safe to assume that Ryzen wil be a better price to performance chip. As for motherboard the MSI B350M GAMING PRO will be a great budget overclocking motherboard, try to get ram that is at least 2666mhz.

Motherboard: ASRock - AB350M Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2666 Memory ($73.99 @ Newegg)

These are the tips I got earlier, is this good?

As for the CPU, I may go for the R3 Ryzen 1400 instead of the 1200.

It can only get better with optimizations and the final release (unless something stupid happens) It is a good guide for selecting the minimum performance you are looking for.

I really only like Ryzen for its upgrade ability. With Intel, buying a socket now means there is a high chance of needing a new motherboard to upgrade. AMD tends to keep their sockets for a long time. So when the R3-1200 is no longer enough, you can probably drop in a Zen+ / Zen 2 CPU and enjoy more cores and a newer architecture which will compete well with what Intel has right this second.

For the pure gamer looking for highest FPS, Intel is still the way to go. The i5-8600k and i7-8700k should make a very good platform, and I have my fingers crossed that it won't require an LGA1151v2 board. Probably more expensive than the R5 direct competitors, but the trade off should be worth it.

Yep, that gets you a 4C/8T CPU, basically something akin to a i7-4770 in terms of performance. I vaguely recall that SMT wasn't working right on Destiny 2 though, but that will likely change.

The RAM is great and that is a great motherboard, I do tend to prefer the MSI PRO and PLUS boards since they have decent VRMs and power delivery for good overclocking. Which will allow it to last for quite a while, and will allow you access to upgrade to a better CPU in the future. The PLUS has 4 DIMM slots so you can add more RAM modules for easy upgrade there as well.

The above two will be a great option if you are looking at future upgrades while maintaining a great performance for the dollar as well as cheap prices. If you want the basic of the basic boards then indeed Eximo has given you a great option for the motherboard, but please do remember if you are spending, always look for components that will allow you to upgrade and expand in the future then tie you down. This is the case with your current FM2 motherboard.

Sadly Coffee Lake will not be compatible with the current motherboards, so if you are looking to upgrade your CPU from Kaby to Coffee, then I am sorry that will not happen, I am a huge fan of the Ryzen CPUs, but being fair I prefer to give sufficient amount of choices to anyone deciding to purchase new PC components.

I'm getting hella confused. One says this is good, other says that is better, other says it won't work etc. I appreciate you guys trying to help but I need some clarity as I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff

They are talking about new processors that are going to be released by Intel soon (Intel announced new chipset). I vote for the Ryzen build as suggested by Eximo.

I am sorry for the confusion, I am giving a through explanation so that you make the right choice, Go for the Ryzen R3 1200

Except for the GTX 1060 and GTX 1070, this statement is not true. Prices have remained (and still are) stable for most of the other parts.
