I did this many months ago, so I do not remember exactly how I proceeded, but I have vast knowledge about Windows and probably waded through registry entries and checked services and processes. Perhaps I even looked for driver files on the hard disk based on their date. Something along that line.

Bottom line is that you cannot do it unless you really know what you are doing in Windows. The complexity of this is probably why Intel refrained from writing a proper uninstallation routine for this. The danger of rendering the Windows installation unusable was too high from their standpoint, so they resorted to leave the drivers in place.

Again, I am writing all this based on my memories from half a year ago, so not everything needs to be...
I use my mobo utility software. Older PCs don't have this. So I recommend HWInfo for monitoring the whole PC, not just CPU temp. This works fine on Intel builds, but amd mobos often have CPU temp sensors that don't cooperate. So far it seems that AMD Overdrive is bets for especially older amd builds.

Did you download it from Coretemp's website, or a 3rd party site? Curious if people having issues downloaded it directly from Coretmep's alcpu dot com website.

I downloaded it via the link for Coretem's website. There are at least 6 piggybacked software and you have to use the skip button to not install any of the bloatware. The app itself is not really very good and not worth having to pay that much attention to insure you don't end up with bloatware.

<edit> And I too came here wanting to know what was the best software for monitoring temps more than anything. Even though I have an AMD FX9590 I was hoping there would be an answer here. One answer was close to helping; but AMD Overdrive doesn't support the 9 series FX chips yet.

hwmonitor gives some wrong stats like tomorrow sevral times it showed that my i5 4670k's max vcore was 2.040 volt. it has many stats but not all accurate like it showed tmpin2 temp was -150 what the.....

What about Real Temp (3.70 is the version I have)? I think I installed this based on what Linus of LinusTechTips uses in his Youtube videos. Any issues with it?
