I concur with this article. Mostly on account of the entire package, Ryzen 2 brings when compared to its Intel competitors. For your average gamer, the Ryzen CPU will last longer and offer much more stable frame rates should their system have many background apps (which tends to be the norm).
With both Intel and AMD going full on into the many-core competitive market as a means of continuing Moore's law then we're likely going to see games take better advantage of the multiple cores.
There is no denying that current Intel CPUs such as the 8700K offer the best IPC for current games but that trend is changing. Unless you always upgrade to the latest and greatest once a year or so then you're definitely better served with an AMD Ryzen.
