I am working towards a bachelor's in Information Technology and trying to determine what part of the industry I want to go into - what are some good choices for entry-level job positions in the field?

What sort of internships would I be able to get while still going to University to get experience, if any?

Typing is an under-appreciated skill. Fast accurate typists are great for data entry, and so much of database management is "being a janitor for data-entry" - cleaning up those messes.

Typing is also great for coding - programming.

Typing is also a key to writing good user-manuals, and good help-text. "Being a complete idiot" is a great feature for writing user manuals, too, because only a complete idiot can know what needs to be learned.

Typing may seem menial to some, but so can all communication skills by exactly the same arguments.

entry level for IT is usually not as good as something like computer science. experience is valued much more. You'll have to start somewhat low and work your way up. What you should do in that time is find out which part of IT you want to specialize in? security? database work? troubleshooting?

Well, let 'em write a program and do a COMPILE, DEBUGs and corrections with winks, wiggles and touch. See how far that gets without keyboard skills. The faster and better typist someone is, the more options they have.
