I have 2 cards in mind, both are used and are from different people that I personally know. Both cards are in very good condition.
RX 5500 XT
RX 590
Mostly gaming; AAA games played at 1080p using highest possible graphics settings while maintaining 50-60 fps frame rates. I know the 590 is a bit of a power hog, but that won't be an issue. Meanwhile the 5500X being a PCIe 4.0 card will be running on a PCIe 3.0 board. Not that that is an issue, but the videos online never state what PCIe ver. they are comparing at.

Solution
One Example
Should I not believe them?

That is very poor example. Anyone can draw graphs.

Also, what that bloke had, was XFX RX 590 Fatboy vs MSI RX 5500 XT 8GB.
XFX is 2nd tier GPU manufacturer, while MSI is 1st tier. Cooling and power delivery is better on MSI than on XFX. While XFX has cheaper price.

From TH review:
According to Steam stats, the majority of users play PC games using monitors at 1920x1080 resolution or less. While the mid-range and high-end cards have no issues running 1080p (even high refresh rate), the budget end can struggle at times to reach 60 fps for smooth gameplay. AMD’s RX 5500 XT was tasked to do this job and for the most part, accomplishes it using Ultra settings.

In 8 out of 11 titles, the 5500 XT was able to produce close to 60 fps (57+) or well over with our settings. Only in Metro: Exodus, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint and Borderlands 3 does it slip below what many would consider unplayable fps. In these titles, image quality settings need to be adjusted for a better gaming experience. Other titles were right at or above the magic threshold.

So, if the plan is to play: Metro: Exodus, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint or Borderlands 3, in-game settings must be reduced, for ~60 FPS @ 1080p. Or get better GPU.

Meanwhile the 5500X being a PCIe 4.0 card

Do note that RX 5500 XT, despite being PCI-E 4.0 GPU, will only use and run in 8 lanes, and not the full 16 lanes. So, PCI-E 4.0 x8 is equal to PCI-E 3.0 x16, in terms of bandwidth.

If you want to go with RX 5500XT, go ahead. You asked which was better and i gave you your answer.

I see. But your video example above seems to agree that they either are pretty evenly matched or trade punches depending on the game. Nevertheless, I agree. the RX 590 is better.
