I am just curious as to what people think is the best 1st person shooting game to date. I personally like Unreal Tournament. I am completely addicted to that game. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay is fun. I am highly anticipating Unreal II.

Draw between Duke Nukem 3D, Deus Ex, and Unreal. Unreal had the best graphics, Duke had the funnest gameplay, Deus Ex had the best story.

i say half life had the best gameplay. unreal definitely has the best graphics, and deus ex; not contest on best story.
as for best multiplayer, i will have to go with half life (and its mods of course) with UT coming in a close second.

I don't have the time to procrastinate.

Definately Hitman, the coolest game of all time...

TBIRD 1.33@1.63
Asus A7M266
Vapochill
Elsa Geforce3
Apacer 256MB DDR266
Seagate X15

HalfLife for single player, with Soldier of Fortune and No One Lives Forever just behind, and definitely Unreal Tournament for best multiplayer.

are you kidding me? soldier of fortune SUCKED ASS!!!!!!! the graphics are only marginally acceptable even on highest settings, and the storyline just plain sucks. it is the second worst fps ive played, behind daikatana of course.

I don't have the time to procrastinate.

Have any of you tried the new FPS Serious Sam?
The graphics is AMAZING (Fast 3D acccelerator and CPU is a must)
The Gameplay is the best I have ever tried, and the story is (for Computer Game) great.
I personally think that Serious Sam is the best sigle/multiplayer game since Quake. You can even play 2 (or more..) players in spiltscreen mode!

I have completed the Full Version game and cant wait for SAM 2. So Im looking for Giants, so if you have this game and would like SAM maybe we can trade?

How come nobody on this forum likes Quake 3? Unreal is great, but haven't played it in a while. I'm not 100% sure that its graphics is better than q3. will have to get back to you on this.
I put a post asking about optical mice on FPS's. So, is it crappy to aim well with an optical mouse?

I like quake 3. UT is better with the bots. The Q3 Bots are just targetting machines. Against other people, I prefer Q3.

If you want to see a targetting machine, play UT on Godlike.
I just want to know if anyone has *ever* got more than 3 frags on godlike.
But on Q3, the bots have better movements and AI. I got lots of friends who say all bots at q3 @ nightmare are easy 😉
Wanna see a demo?

I forgot to say, you are totally right. Quake 3 is really good when having a lan party.
I kind of lean towards UT on CTF. Q3 CTF is more like a deathmatch that when you've got spare time in the game, you go get the flag.

I do.
I just haven't got anything to get trapped in them (only me).
I'm really sorry to say this, but it now hurts to remember its graphics. After one sees Quake and Unreal....GET THAT THING AWAY FROM ME.
Still, it gave some great multiplayer time.

WTF?
Godlike on UT isn't that tough!
I finished the 7 first levels (DM) if I remember correctly, but got stuck at one point I wasn't able to go further (too many bots at the same time...).
They all have flaws, and are quite easy to defeat when you find them...
I finished level 2 (Fractal) in single player at Godlike with the bot having a negative score.
No cheat or hack involved, you just need to play it enough and get to know how the bots react.

I like the Q3TA CTF. We usually play 4 - 6 people games. usually 5 or 7 players (2-3 human the rest are bots) per team. This makes almost any level hectic! Most of the time, I'm one of the designated flag carriers. This is our team tactic. I can afford to give it away as we don't play on the internet.

5 player:
one Player + lots of mines protect our flag. One player patrols.
Two players go and set up a sand off attack on the enemy base. One of them Usually has the quad damage.
I get the speed thing. Run into the enemy base, get the flag and run like hell. One of the stand off players follows me out. The other goes and hides somewhere near the enemy flag post to steal it as soon as it re-appears. mean while the patrol guy makes his way to the enemy base to take on the role of a stand off attacker.

7 Player is pretty similar to the 5 player one, but the extra human player is usally used in a sniping/camping role, while the extra computer player is used to help defend our base.

Although, both teams use the same tactics, it still gets really good and a lot different to a all out attack deathmatch.

Tough guy.
In that case, I think I'll install it again and see what I can do.
I remember even the PCG guys couldn't beat the godlike.

Godlike is hard depending on the board and the circumstances. One on one and it's a bitch, but it's doable if you are good at that level. It also depends on how many bots you have in the game and how many friends you have on your team. No matter how smart the bots get, they can't beat the cleverness of a human and especially a team of humans.

Well I do admit I don't boast around with my UT skill. I used to kick some good adept butts and a little of master. I haven't played in a long while. I converted to Q3 because we usually play Q3 and if you play unreal long enough it screws your q3. It has different tactics, physics and stuff.

Let's see how a godlike can survive five rockets up his!
