Best Gaming CPU for Under $500

Hi, im interesting in what will be the least bottleneak for a gaming cpu with 2x7800GTX Videocards and 2 Gigs of ram, im interesting in a

Does anyone have something that is better and Future Full Proof for less or a bit morethan that? Im not really interested in OverClocking because if you have good enough hardware then its not necessary, i just want something that out of the box is the the fastest and best for 3+ years. thank you.

If you OC like a banshee, the s939 opteron 170 is also a great choice.
For lower OCs and no OC setups, the SLI 7800s and dual cores are hard to beat. Well except for the pricetag. All a little rich for my blood.

I would say ge the 3800+ and OC....you are going to have to OC to get the cpu at its best and they are all the same chip and OC to the same level.

That is going to be a beast machine....make sure you have good case fans, a good power supply, and some decent RAM that will OC....like Ballistx (2x1GB)

Grab a 3800+ and overclock it, or if you want to spend a little more get the cheapest one with 1mb cache (4200 x2 I think, or 4400) and overclock that.

To be honest, if this is a gaming only box, It's hard to justify the $160+ premium over an A64 4000+. Sure you will get a few more frames in "nvidia" games, but you will loose just as many in "Ati games. With the SLI, nvidia games will not be a problem, while Ati games will play less well, so the 4000s extra speed will help.

i'd suggest the single core 939 optrons man, they are hitting 3.1G with a simple xp-90 and a medium loud fan, or 3G with the stock fan lol not much of a difference except in the loudness of the fans, but if you want quiet and OC, get a xp-120 or SI-120 and a very quiet (120mm panaflo low or something) fan and you won't be able to hear anything even if ya OC lol
