Best intel chip to buy right now? There isn't one....since you'd be building on a dead-end socket.

"The launch of Sandy Bridge early next year sees Intel pulling a hack-job with yet another interface, leaving mainstream buyers with Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 CPUs stranded without a viable upgrade path."

I'm not sure if I want to completely agree with the CPU hierarchy chart. Recently I have paid more attention to the "green" variants of the AMD CPUs (those that are succeeded by an "e" in the denomination).
If I understand correctly the 905e and the 910e are pretty much the same CPU where the 910e is a slight improvement over 905e. Performance-wise they are pretty much the same CPU (at least from what I've seen on the performance charts) and yet the 910e is above the 905e in the chart.

I know 6 core CPUs don't add much in terms of gaming power, but I'm considering a new build and wondering where the X6 1100T would fit into this hierarchy. Same tier as the 1090 and 1075, or one up with all the intel CPUs. What do you guys think?

I personally think its in the same bracket as the 1090T, its only 200mhz faster @ stock speeds and I think it would need more like a 20% performance increase to get it into the top tier bracket.

I have the 1090T and honestly I doubt you will be disappointed with the 1100T unless your really working on some mission critical data project.

If the price is right just get the 1100T. You won't regret it...
