Hi

I'm not sure what the proper name is for these. Perhaps someone can clarify...?
Does anyone have any experience with gluing these washer-like screws back into these holes you would find on the underside of a laptop case/screen? I'm not able to get the LCD screen back into place securely whilst these have come out. So I need a glue recommendation that works best. I did see some poxy resin Gorilla glue on Amazon that would probably work, however, it would probably need to be applied with something small and thin around the rim of these holes. Last thing I want is for the glue to get inside and set and then I'm unable to screw anything in them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Maybe we can still help get this to a solution or fix. What exact model and make of laptop is this. And maybe post a picture of the unit with showing the screen and keyboard side.

I don't know the age of your laptop but just maybe one of us can locate a dropped used one with a cracked screen and missing hard drive for extremally cheap on the used market.

Think of it as a used bottom with extra parts buy.

It's a bit old now. It was bought in 2016. It's a Clevo W650 RC. I've tried looking on eBay and AliExpress, but haven't had any luck. I don't think I've even seen one for a regular W650. And I'm not sure if any W650 would be suitable. I'll have to upload some images a bit later.

I suppose another option is, and I don't know how viable it is as it may over-balance and fall when I leave it to dry, would be to screw the screen into place with the right screws and threaded rivets, and THEN apply the resin. Add it down the middle of the posts, on top of the screws, and down the sides etc. So long as the pivots are working and the screen/lid can be opened and closed, that's all that matters. I certainly have no intention of stripping it again after this.

You glue the parts together then tap the existing holes. You said, applying pressures on the hardware just strips off again. when Nothing is left except the original holes. You are just trying to clean the threads so they are once again are workable. Sorry, metal and woodshop classes once taught in high school are ignored skills of the past. Now you get offered Jewelry classes.

Just a little update on this. I've had to re-apply the resin yet again, after screwing the LCD brackets in place, as they broke free. 😕 I was very close to sorting the machine out, but then one issue led to another, whereby cables were getting caught up AFTER screwing everything back in place on the back panel, so then I had to undo everything again and again, and after all the faff, they broke free. 🙄 So had to do it yet again.

This time, I wanted to make sure everything else was fine before screwing everything back together, and I'm glad I did. Because now I've discovered that the small board for the power button isn't working. The light doesn't come on and pressing the button doesn't work. Also, the machine keeps randomly turning off after a few minutes. I'm guessing that's the cause, so I'll need to get a replacement board before I can attempt to re-assemble it back together. It's never ending...
