I was looking into getting a gtx 970 but was told my cup would bottleneck it. Then I looked at the new gtx 960 that is coming out soon and the 290x sapphire. I'm not sure what to get I want a gpu that can play games at 60 fps, my card can almost do that on far cry 4. So help me please

Actually if you get a water cooling system and OC you can use a gtx 970. However,if you don't want to you can always run a r9 280 which is only 20$ more than your r9 270x and runs great as I have one in my current system. The specific one i would recommend would be the MSI Radeon R9 280. Its a card that can run most games at ultra and should be able to play Far cry 4 on ultra at 60fps. If you want more then go for a 280x because a 290 would need at least an fx 8320.

I posted results somewhere of my MSI Gaming GTX 970 with an FX 6300 at stock and at 4.5GHz and there was ~5fps difference in Unigine Valley benchmark and slight 'bottlenecking' in comparison to my 4790k with my 970, in actual games though, you will rarely see any 'bottlenecking'. Personally I would go with an R9 290 or a GTX 970.

First, I'm going to assume that you are playing at 1080p. Your FX 6300 shouldn't bottle neck a GTX 970, especially if your CPU is overclocked. The GTX 970 is a really good GPU for the money and also has really low power usage. The GTX 960 will also be suited to your build quite well and should be coming out some time in January or February. Both of these cards should okay Far Cry 4 at 60fps at 1080p with all settings maxed. The GTX 970 will always give better performance, possibly higher frame rates or allowing you to have some Anti-Aliasing on. Hope this helps and good luck!
