Best GPU for i5 4670 CPU

I have an HP Pavilion 500, with a 500w PSU and an EVGA GeForce GTX 750 SC. I'm looking to upgrade to an i5 4670 soon for gaming (it's the highest tier i5 for my system before i7, which I'm pretty sure I don't need) and I've already got a heat sink in mind for it. I currently have an i3 4130 3.4GHz. I'll eventually want to upgrade my gpu and I'm wondering what would be a GOOD graphics card to pair it with. Is 500w sufficient for an upgrade? Any comments/advice would be welcome!

on a 500w you can pull gtx 970.i currently have a overclocked 4790k and 970 on a 500w psu and it works fine.
