Best graphics card for my mother board intel DG35EC

My system is
Motherboad: DG35EC
4GB Ram
1 TB HDD
XFX Geforce GTS 250 512 MB RAM
Quad core CPU of 2.93 Ghz.
SMPS: 450W
I want to upgrade my graphics card GTS 250 to most recent one, but I can find a lots of variation but I need the one which will run with same power supply that I have and will be much better performer than the current one.

I just checked the specification of Nvidia GTX 750Ti. It supports PCI-E 3.0 but I think the board DG35EC supports only PCI-E 2.0 x16. I am not sure if the GTX 750 Ti is backward compatible or not.

I heard that Ati cards consumes even less power than Nvidia, so do you have any suggestion on ATI cards ?

It's actually quite the opposite; AMD/ATI cards usually use more power than their Nvidia counterparts.

gtx 750 ti have the lowest TDP in comes for entry and enthusiast level GFXcard
its only 60w compare to AMD/ATI cards which is ranging from 120w-160w (counterpart of gtx 750 ti)
